Charming Orlando Bloom

At about this point in the festival exhaustion starts to rear its ugly head so I took a disco nap last evening before heading out to a party in a villa high in the hills above Cannes.

Chatting with a friend who handles the press for Canal Plus - France’s equivalent of HBO  – we were interrupted by someone looking for a cigarette. At first you’re annoyed that your conversation is being trampled on but, very frankly, when you realize that the person asking is Orlando Bloom you just kind of go with it.

Bloom

I’d never met him before but I do admit to having an inappropriate crush ever since he shot arrows at Orcs in “Lord of the Rings.”

The Legolas braids are obviously long gone but he’s sporting a very fetching, very short haircut. I, for some unknown reason, felt compelled to compliment the new do in the following manner: “Your hair looks really nice,” I said before adding, “But, I don’t know, that could be the light.”

That actually made him laugh and I have to admit he was incredibly gracious, but honestly, what was I thinking? Such a charmer…
